Why Do Some Tattoos Take Longer To Treat?

There are individual factors that determine how your tattoo responds to the laser or tattoo removal cream.

They are:

Unique Immune System: Everyone’s immune system responds differently and this is a factor during tattoo removal. Your body will break down the tattoo ink and pigments at its own individual rate.

Your Skin Tone. Lighter skin tones have higher success rates but many skin types are treatable and some tattoos are significantly reduced in appearance even after the first laser tattoo removal session.

Type of colors used. Black, red, dark orange and dark blue tattoos will usually respond the fastest to tattoo removal treatments. While green, brown, purple yellow and light blue inks will often require more visits to laser removal clinics and extended treatments with removal creams.

Type Of Ink Used. tattoo inks are not regulated and results will vary with amateur tattoos generally responding faster than professional ones.

Depth Of Tattoo. A tattoo that has been covered up by another tattoo has more ink and depth in the skin therefore requiring additional treatments.

If you’re are looking to have laser tattoo removal done on your tattoo most clinics will provide a free initial consultation. Look for a modern, comfortable, friendly and of course clean clinic when considering laser tattoo removal. Keep in mind that each session thereafter will likely run you in the neighbourhood of $250 – $800 per session but this will depend on several factors.

In additional to laser treatments you can also consider a newer method known as Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (or IPL). This technique employs high intensity light in almost the same way as laser but it uses a gel applied to the treated tattoo area and it is said to be far less painful than laser treatments as well as more effective which can mean fewer treatment sessions. It is, however, more expensive and is often charged by the pulse – often in the range of about $10. per pulse.

A few other, less popular methods are: dermabrasion, which actually sands away the top layers of your skin. It has been known to lead to scarring, just like excision. These two methods are typically only used where tattoo removal attempts have not been responding well to laser treatments or tattoo removal creams.

Tattoo Risks

What are some of the biggest Tattoo Risks?

Ink makers are not required by the US Food and Drug Administration, or any other government agency, to list their product’s ingredients. All commercial ink manufacturers and many tattoo artists mix their own pigment formulations. These inks are mixed in a number of different types of carrier solutions.

The purpose of these carriers is to ensure the ink remains liquefied. They also inhibit contamination and assist in easing the injection of the pigments through the skin layers.

The most common and safest carriers are:

Ethyl alcohol (also known as ethanol, pure alcohol, grain alcohol, or drinking alcohol)
Glycerin (a syrupy alcohol obtained from fats and oils)
Purified water (distilled or de-ionized mineral-free water)
Witch hazel (an alcoholic solution containing an extract that acts as a mils astringent)
Listerine
Propylene glycol (it’s often used to improve the spread ability of a product like ink).

Various pigment ingredients can produce side effects which include allergic reaction with the skin. These reactions may cause photo sensitivity to natural or artificial light and in extreme cases may even lead to scarring. Inks that glow in the dark, or blacklight-reactive fluorescent inks may be harmless or radio active it depends on the chemicals that are used to create the effect such as phosphors or EverGlow.

ABS plastic-based pigments have become popular because of the color vibrancy effect they can create but they can prove very difficult to remove even with multiple laser tattoo removal sessions or ipl tattoo removal. Most inks are harmless, but without regulation the risk will always remain. A reputable artist should be willing to describe the ink ingredients that will be used for your tattoo.

The modern tattoo gun creates many thousands of tiny puncture wounds through the top skin layers in order to inject the tattoo ink. The particles are then trapped in a network of tissue in a type of cell called a fibroblast. This process causes damage to both the epidermis and dermal layers and they become blended together rather than remaining separated by the layer that is usually between the two – where the natural pigment melanin resides. This causes some bleeding and your immune system responds to shut down the blood flow and begins sending some of the ink through the lymphatic system.

Initially the ink is suspended within the upper skin levels, but after 1 to 2 weeks it will become more concentrated in a lower area of the dermis. After 30 days or so the two layers of skin (epidermal and dermal) have had enough time to heal and trap the ink. Normally after about 90 days the pigments are encased by connective tissue that will hold the ink in place. Over time, the ink will continue to sink slightly deeper into the dermal layers making removal ever more difficult.

So for those considering their first (or maybe second if you’re still reading this) tattoo think long and hard before making your decision. Shop around to find the most professional and cleanest shop in your area and take the time to ensure that the design you choose is one you can live with forever because once the ink is in there it
is very difficult to get rid of even with laser tattoo removal, a tca tattoo peel or tattoo removal creams.

InfinitInk

Tattoo symbolism is great, it represent so many things: relationships, turning points, attitudes, celebrations, individualism and sometimes regret in our ever-changing lives.

Freedom-2 Inc. is the company behind a brand new removable product called InfinitInk. It allows medical science to blend with your own unique expression. It has really created quite a buzz in the tattoo industry. It has FDA approval and tests by the company show it can be removed with the help of laser treatments in as few as one session.

Once a tattoo is done with InfinitInk the tattoo can be exposed to a normal laser (often of the Q-switched variety that are already so common in tattoo removal) for faster removal. The company’s line of inks were all made with natural pigments (such as beta-carotene and iron oxide). The main innovative feature of the ink is that it is stored in transparent capsules. Once injected, these polymer beads rest just below the skin’s surface and are applied in the same manner as conventional tattoo inks
.
The intense laser light and the heat created by its pulsing literally crack these microscopic polymer capsules that contain the tattoo pigments. These dyes are then absorbed naturally and safely through your body’s immune system. Our bodies are able to do this since only biocompatible, organic materials are used. All of this is done without leaving so much as a tiny scar.

The ink was designed to appear and act the same as normal ink until its time for removal.
It is the first and only tattoo ink product to use the P2E platform. When used, the tattoo artist applies it just as they would any other tattoo ink, with a needle, and unless you change your mind, it will remain there forever. If you do, it can be removed with far fewer laser or IPL treatments than any other standard tattoo ink. The scientists that developed the product perfected the dissolution process of the dyes when passed over with laser light. To be blunt, it just works better.

Maybe you’ve been thinking about getting a tattoo, but you’re a little hesitant? There’s always something difficult about making a permanent decision. But what if you could get a real, permanent tattoo today but if you ever changed your mind have it removed later? Suddenly your choices are infinite.

It is considered a high quality ink that was engineered specifically for future removability. It serves a market that has never been catered to before. Now all tattoos are permanent and, at the same time, all of them are removable. But as you may know, removing a tattoo can often involve several laser treatments. Depending on the size of the tattoo it is not unheard of to need even as many as 10 or more treatments, even small tattoos can cost over $1,000 in laser treatments.

A tattoo done with Infinitink is just as permanent as any other with one small difference – it can be removed with a minimum of laser treatments and according to the company Freedom2 has over 8,000 people currently waiting to have a tattoo done with Infinitink.

So if you ever grow tired of that tribal scrawl around your arm, or that butterfly across your lower back InfinitInk can mean less time, pain and expense.
